In the wild west, cowboys used brands to identify who a cow belonged to. You could look out on the open range and see cows from 20 different ranchers grazing together, all mixed up, but when it was time for the round-up, they all got sorted.

Those who are in Christ have been branded as well, a new mark signaling that we belong to God. We may intermingle with the rest of the world, but God has made us Brand NEW and counts us as His own.
